Tape-recorded collection of Eastern and Moroccan Judeo-Spanish romances formed by Samuel G. Armistead, Joseph H. Silverman, and Israel J. Katz, between 1957 and 1980. The collection comprises approximately 1,473 texts, fragments, and major contaminations of romances and narrative songs (721 Eastern; 752 Moroccan) embodying some 186 text-types. The major part of the collection was formed by S. G. A. and J. H. S. with Eastern informants in the United States (1957–1960), by I. J. K. in Israel (1959–1961), and by S. G. A., J. H. S., and I. J. K. in Morocco (1962–1963); it also includes interviews by S. G. A. in Los Angeles (1963), Philadelphia (1969), and Cambridge, Mass. (1980), by S. G. A. and I. J. K. in New York (1971), by I. J. K. in Israel (1971), and 205 texts and fragments collected by S. G. A. and J. H. S. in Israel (1978). In the present bibliography the total number of texts for a given theme appears in parentheses following the text-type number.

Bendayán MS =

Notebook containing transcriptions of 8 Sephardic traditional poems, including four romances (representing 5 different text-types), belonging to Elías Bendayán (Tetuán); the romance texts were transcribed before 1936, some before August 7, 1924; photographic copy acquired by Samuel G. Armistead and Joseph H. Silverman, August, 1962.

Bennaim MS =

Manuscript collection of 91 texts of 80 different romances and narrative songs, formed in Tetuán by Luna Bennaim (1893–1958), between 1919 and 1950 (approximately). The MS was given to Iacob M. Hassán (C.S.I.C.) by Moisés Benolol.
